Expressive Art Therapies are the purposeful use of art, movement, music, and writing for self-expression and emotional healing in combination with ‘talk’ therapy.


Processes used may include:

• meditative techniques
• body awareness and movement
• collage and drawing
• music and vocalizing
• writing
• sandtray

Goals include:

• communication that is "telling without words"
• stress reduction
• greater self acceptance
• establishment of meaning and purpose
• finding dreams and visions
• increased sense of physical and emotional well being

Life difficulties addressed include:

• depression and anxiety
• life transitions and losses
• chronic pain
• resource in resolution of childhood trauma

This workshop uses collage, writing, relaxation and music to calm, contain and express inner experience. The focus is on building inner resources for healing.
